I showed up in Bangkok alone at 2:30 in the morning. The sights and sounds were overwhelming and I felt as if I'd arrived at another planet. As I traveled south by bus, boat, taxi, tuk-tuk and motorcycle, I started to appreciate more and more the amazing culture and warmth of the Thai people. When I finally met up with Andy and descended upon the Wind Spirit at a picturesque mooring in Koh Pangan, I knew that I could expect an incredible visit. I was not let down . . . . as we traveled, snorkeled, Sailed at sunset and soaked up the flavor of Thailand I enjoyed one of the best vacations of my life. It was a pleasure to share this time with Andy, who was knowledgeable, fluent and an entertaining musician. Here are some of the things we did.

• Snorkeling with countless fish and examining live corals and anemones.
• Cliff jumping from above a shack inhabited by workers gathering bird's nests for soup.
• Fishing off the boat at night for squid.
• Chased by giant trigger fish.
• Cleaned the third gas tank.
• Rode motorcycles through the jungle.
• Hiked to waterfalls.
• Partied all night at a full moon party.
• Met many foreign friends.
• Sampled incredible cuisine.
• Sailing wisper-quiet at sunset.
• Tried to climb to the highest point in the island, got lost.
• Watched Thai people run across coals, declined invitation to join them.
• Passed out on the beach, woke up with a mangy dog licking my face.
